Real Life UP-house With 300 Balloons
What we see in animated movies can sometimes be very unreal, like in adventure movie “Up” where the house is lifted by many balloons. That’s not possible in real life, or is it?
The answer to that is “yes”, it has actually happened in real life, and National Geographic Channel was sent over to capture every bit of the happening. The house that was attached by the balloons was made as light as it could be without making it look like a cheap paper house. They used 300 colored weather balloons that kept the 8′ house in the air for about one hour. It got pretty high, about 10,000 feet and it set a world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted.
The crew that made this possible was a group of scientists, two world-class balloon pilots and some engineers. The most beautiful part is the colorful house and balloons that decorated the sky for some time, it must have felt surreal to be inside it while it was up in the air. If you want to see the project it will be shown on National Geographic Channel fall 2011.
