Modelling from placticine was an amazing hobby of Alyona’s father who had suffered a serious illness and finally died. He modelled miniature soldiers from placticine. He had mastered his skills over the years and the work of his hands is so amazing. He has created  several armies.  Lets get to know about the history of these armies as they go with us through the journey of time…
The very first soldiers are over 30 years old. Alyona’s father made them when he was a young kid. These soldiers did not have faces since they were used as toys. These soldiers used to have battles that lasted hours – Â from morning to evening – Â as long as the kids wanted. Â They had specific battle rules and could shoot from their guns, make various army formations and so on. But as the kids grew, the game got boring and the soldiers were no longer able to go to battle.
The soldier are dressed according to their historical reality. Before he modelled them, Alyona’s father had read tonnes of history and war books; even in their original language. He read all through- from horsebreeds to the color of the soldier’s gloves.
Thousands of tiny, at a scale 1:54, 3cm (!) soldiers…
The collection has soldiers of different armies – working-peasant Red Army, French and English armies, covering some historic periods. Each series has been carefully placed in an individual box, each soldier has a stand with an inscription about the period and unit the soldier belongs to. The master tried to write these inscriptions in a language of that country whose army he was making.
He used to use ordinary cheap Soviet plasticine.
Toys covered with dust…
The soldiers are kept in such boxes in dark and cool place.
For uniforms he used a lot of different materials – strings, foil, wire, hair. Many of the soldiers were painted.
Sometimes he made outstanding officers.
Early made soldiers
Alyona is ready to find a better place for keeping so dear and beloved collection than a dwelling room. Maybe one day this collection may become a part of some good exhibition. We think it deserves it.
